Most Countries Suspending Routine U.S. Visa Services – (03/20/2020)

As of March 18, 2020, the U.S. Department of State is suspending routine visa services in most countries worldwide as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19. Cancelled services include all routine immigrant and nonimmigrant appointments, so beneficiaries are advised to check the website of a specific embassy or consulate to determine its operating status.

Routine services will resume as soon as possible but no projected date is available at this time. However, anyone who has already paid the MRV fee may apply that fee toward a visa appointment in the country where it was paid within one year of payment.

This suspension of routine visa services does not affect the visa waiver program or services to U.S. citizens. Applicants with an urgent travel need are directed to follow the guidance found at the embassy website to request an emergency appointment.
